During the 19th century Dahabeya’s were used by the Egyptian aristocracy to provide elegant comfort for them and their entourage as they traveled on the Nile visiting the antiquities and splendid temples of ancient Pharaohs.
Dahabeya Miran is skilfully crafted to represent the style and comfort of the original Dahabeya with a notable exception, she also provides all modern comforts and is fully air-conditioned. With just six cabins and a capacity for twelve guests this elegant sailing ship is small enough to navigate shallow waters getting close to the vibrant life of the riverside communities of the Nile, untouched by the hustle and bustle of the huge crowded tourist cruise ships.
This traditional cruise is ideal for those who would like to enjoy the Nile at a leisurely pace, to view the stunning landscapes and explore the monuments and villages on the riverbanks. Let us help you to recapture those elegant days, by creating a tranquil journey by sail with modern comforts and conveniences.

To ensure you get an early start for your Dahabeya Nile cruise we recommended you spend the night before the departure at a Luxor hotel where we will make contact with you to confirm your cruise arrangements.

Day 1 – Friday         Dahabeya Cruise - Luxor
After breakfast transfer to Esna to start your traditional Dahabeya cruise on the Nile. After you have checked in visit the Graeco-Roman Temple of Khnum known as the Esna Temple. This temple is dedicated to Khnum, the ram-headed creator god who is said to have fashioned mankind on his potter’s wheel using clay from the Nile. Return to Dahabeya Miran for lunch and start sailing on your leisurely cruise up the Nile. The first night is spent moored up to the picturesque Hegz Island; a small island in the middle of the Nile.

Day 2 – Saturday    Dahabeya Cruise
Continue sailing up the Nile to Edfu where we will visit The Temple of Horus in Edfu which is one of the best preserved temples in Egypt, partly because it was built later than most, between 237 and 57 BC. The temple accurately reflects traditional Pharaonic architecture and so provides an excellent idea of how all the temples once looked. We continue sailing to the island of El Ramady, where we will tie up for the night.

Breakfast is served while sailing to Selsela where the Pharaohs once quarried stone for their temples; here we will also visit the Selsela Mountain Temple. Back aboard; continue our sailing cruise passing timeless rural scenes on the edge of the Nile until we reach the island of Maneha, where we will spend the night.

Day 4 – Monday      Dahabeya Cruise
Today we visit the Temple of Kom Ombo which is dedicated to both Sobek the crocodile god and Horus the falcon headed god.  We then sail on to Daraw which is a famous staging point for trading camel caravans, where traders still bring spices, perfumes and crafts across the desert from the heart of Africa. After visiting Daraw we continue sailing on to Aswan where we will spend the night.

Day 5 – Tuesday     Aswan
Disembark after breakfast we will transfer you to your Aswan hotel or the airport to connect with your ongoing itinerary.
