... the Tiger Fishing was off the hook, and I caught enough perch to keep me dreaming. It really is such a unique experience to be able to see some of the most important historical sites on the planet one day and stick 20 tigers the next!
Your guides, your staff, and the operation as a whole are all something to be proud of. Having guided in central Africa for the past nine years I am very impressed by what you have created. Fantastic! Peter DeBaun– US Fly fishing guide May 2014.
Be Well Prepared
It is important to be well prepared for a fishing safari especially when targeting big Nile perch which requires specialize tackle and lures that many anglers do not have in their fishing tackle arsenal. With this in mind we have gone into some detail in the Fly Fishing Guide which we have in .pdf format

Catch & Release
The African Angler practices a strict catch and release policy. From time to time we take the occasional Nile perch for the kitchen.
Please always be patient when you come to release your big catch. The fish will be worn out after giving you a hard fight and needs time and help to recover and live to breed again.
“Don’t kill with kindness”. It is not always a good idea to give away lures or fishing tackle as presents to local people. We have evidence these lures are being used for commercial fishing where all the Nile perch are automatically killed.
What Can I Expect To Catch?
On average the Nile perch you catch will be between 10lb to 40lb beyond this who knows; there are Nile perch in the lake over 200 lbs. The fly record is 67lbs; we expect this record to be broken soon. The problem that needs to be solved is how to encourage and hook up the bigger fish with a fly hook. The potential is definitely there; after all we catch huge fish with lures. With a single hook fly the problem is keeping bigger fish on the hook – many are lost after striking because of their exceptionally bony mouths. Our guides know where the fish are and will put you on to them; then it is up to your skill to hook and land them. Tiger fish grow to 16 lbs and are outstanding sport with medium weight gear.
